Wow, and here is where we find ourselves

Crap.  I am becoming a real blogger.  Like Carrie from Sex and the City.  I need a loft and a Mac and a pack of cigarettes and I’ll be all set.  And I am representin’ the business.  Whoa!  My first thoughts are to edit myself and “stick to business”.  *shrug*  Where did that come from?  One of the reasons I am starting a business is to not have to suppress who I am.  So eff that!  And if you don’t find me endearing, then don’t read this.  I will just annoy you.  Seems like there was more I wanted to say about that.  Oh, yeah!  See below.

Why am I starting a blog?

I am starting a blog because I want to share my crazy/beautiful journey of WeatherVane Creamery with you, specifically the next 25 days of the “impossible” campaign to raise $100,000.  Every day brings amazing things.  There is so much behind-the-scenes “going ons” that just can’t be captured on facebook or the indiegogo site.  My friend Maikol and I will be writing a book about this thing anyway, so I might as well get a head start.  Plus, a few folks out there have asked me about how this works because they want to do something similar for something they are passionate about.  The least I could do is share what I learn so all of you don’t have to reinvent my wheel.  Lord knows I am a fan of stealing other people’s wheels.  And I want it to be real.  No suppression.  This sort of thing takes an amount of personal fortitude and you can learn from that part, too.  And laugh from it.  Or cry.  Eeek!

  Where We Are At

We have 25 days left out of 32.  Here is what I wrote in my journal on the second day of the campaign:  I launched WeatherVane’s viral video and fund raising campaign yesterday.  So much has been leading up to it.  I launched it two hours ahead of schedule and by hour four I was feeling a sense of failure and rejection.  I expected everyone to stop what they were doing to see my cool little nothing that I unleashed to the Universe.  I expected everyone to become overwhelmed with inspiration to drop money in $500 increments.

Today I focused on the Ice Cream a Go Go at the Chamber of Commerce.  So focused that I never called IsIt2B to get back to them on the logo winner.  The logo contest is so last week.  LOL  And I also forgot to eat.  The event was super amazing.  Good turnout.  I don’t judge these events by the number of people who attend but the caliber of support present.  I feel like some key community members joined Team WeatherVane.  I grew my email list by eight or so people from that and I emailed everyone that came and directed them to fb to look at the pics.  We’ll see if that results in more fans.  Then I got an itch to get the fb “likes” up.  So I am making a conscious effort there.  We’ll see what happens.  Well, I did get some food in me earlier and I am so completely exhausted.  I can hardly keep my eyes open.  More tomorrow…

Results:

Indiegogo $193, 4 funders, 173 indiegogo views, 90 fb fans

So that was 5 days ago.  Here are the updated results.  I will leave you with that for now.  There is so much to say.  We will catch up later, ok?

335 youtube views, $482 indiegogo, 12 indiegogo funders, 545 indiegogo views, 12 indiegogo favorites, 107 fb fans, $1,000 private loans, $1,482 total funded
